IS THIS A FLOCK CAMERA?

THE "CLIF" SHOW · 5 months ago

The short version: The "Clif" Show tackles a question we get constantly: how do you actually spot a Flock camera on a pole near you?

Our Take

Credit to the "Clif" Show for doing what more people should be doing — stopping to actually look at the gray boxes bolted to poles around town instead of just driving past them. "Is this a Flock camera?" is one of the most common questions we get, and for good reason: these units are designed to blend into the background of American streets, sitting quietly on poles near intersections, school zones, and neighborhood entrances while they log every plate that passes.

That identification problem is exactly why this kind of grassroots video matters. Flock Safety doesn't publish a public registry of where its cameras live, and most local governments don't make it easy to find out either. So the burden falls on regular people to notice the solar panel, the distinctive casing, the antenna, and piece together whether their daily commute is being logged into a nationwide database they never agreed to join.

If this video has you looking twice at the poles in your own neighborhood, don't stop there — check our map to see what's already been documented near you, and if you spot something that isn't listed, help us fill in the picture. The more eyes on the ground, the harder it gets for this infrastructure to stay invisible.
