Flock Cameras: MAGA Influencers' Biggest Mistake Revealed! #shorts

Revenge Of The Cis · 6 hours ago

The short version: A short from Revenge Of The Cis spotlights the irony of MAGA-aligned figures cheering Flock cameras that can just as easily be turned on them.

Our Take

Credit to Revenge Of The Cis for catching something we've been saying for a while: mass surveillance doesn't check your voter registration before it logs your plate. The short reportedly digs into the awkward spot some right-leaning influencers have put themselves in by championing "tough on crime" ALPR networks, without grappling with the fact that the same cameras can track anyone, for any reason, once the infrastructure exists.

This is the trap of Flock-style systems: they're marketed as narrowly targeted crime-fighting tools, but the data doesn't know or care about your politics. Once a statewide or nationwide network of plate readers exists, it can be queried by any agency with access, for any investigation, political or otherwise. "Law and order" branding today doesn't guarantee the same use tomorrow, especially with lax audit trails and vague retention policies that plague most Flock deployments.

Whatever side of the aisle you're on, the lesson is the same: surveillance infrastructure outlives the politics that justified it. Check our map to see if Flock cameras are already watching your neighborhood, and hit up our take-action page if you want to push back before the next administration, whoever it is, decides how to use this data.
