Wisconsin Flock camera pushback | FOX6 News Milwaukee

FOX6 News Milwaukee · 2 months ago

The short version: FOX6 Milwaukee reports Cudahy-area businesses and residents pushing back on Flock cameras, showing local resistance to ALPR expansion is spreading beyond the usual coastal suburbs.

Our Take

Credit to FOX6 News Milwaukee for getting Wisconsin residents and business owners on camera saying what a lot of people quietly think but rarely say to a reporter: they don't want Flock Safety's license plate readers watching their block. When a business like Eagle in Cudahy is willing to go public with its objections, that's a signal local officials should be paying attention to, not brushing off as a handful of cranks.

This is the pattern we track constantly at DeFlock: a police department or city council quietly approves a Flock contract, the cameras go up, and only after the fact do residents discover their daily movements are being logged, stored, and shared across a network that stretches far beyond their city limits. Pushback after installation is harder than stopping it beforehand, which is exactly why transparency before the vote matters so much. Wisconsin families deserve to know what's being collected about them before it's a done deal, not after a FOX6 crew shows up to ask questions.

If you're in southeastern Wisconsin or anywhere else, check our camera map to see what's already been deployed near you, and head to our take-action page for tools to push back at your next council meeting before the contract is signed, not after.
