FOX News Loves Flock here's what they left out.
The short version: A creator called NO FLOCK GIVEN pushes back on Fox News's rosy Flock Safety coverage, spotlighting the surveillance risks left on the cutting room floor.
Our Take
Local news segments love a tidy crime-solving narrative, and Flock Safety has gotten very good at supplying one: a stolen car recovered, a suspect caught, grateful police chief on camera. What NO FLOCK GIVEN points out is what doesn't make the broadcast — the millions of innocent drivers swept into these databases every day, the lack of independent audits, and the fact that "it helped catch one guy" isn't the same as "this is a system with real oversight." Credit to the creator for doing the follow-up reporting that a sponsor-friendly segment never will.
This is the pattern we track constantly: a feel-good press release becomes the entire public record on a surveillance tool that logs your location every time you drive past one of its cameras. Fox isn't alone in this — local affiliates nationwide run near-identical Flock-supplied b-roll with near-identical quotes. The actual footprint of this network, who's paying for it, and how long your plate data sits in a shared database rarely gets a mention.
If a segment like this makes you wonder how many of these cameras are actually near you, check our map to see what's already been documented in your area, and visit take action if you want to push back on expansion in your own town.
