Flock Transparency Portal | Prescott Valley, AZ | September 6, 2026
The short version: Jen's Two Cents walks through Prescott Valley PD's Flock transparency portal, and we think these dashboards raise more questions than they answer.
Our Take
Credit to Jen and the crew at Jen's Two Cents for doing the unglamorous work of actually clicking through one of these Flock 'transparency portals' instead of just taking a press release at face value. Prescott Valley PD's dashboard is the same template Flock rolls out to departments nationwide: a tidy count of detections, searches, and hotlist hits, presented as proof that everything is above board. It looks like accountability. It functions more like a brochure.
The problem isn't that these numbers are fake — it's that they're the numbers Flock and the department chose to show you, stripped of context. A raw search count tells you nothing about who ran it, why, whether it was tied to an actual warrant, or whether an officer was looking up an ex's plate on a slow Tuesday. Audit logs controlled entirely by the vendor and the agency being audited aren't independent oversight, they're self-grading homework. Real transparency means public, queryable logs, retention limits with teeth, and consequences for misuse — not a dashboard that resets the narrative every time a city council member asks a question.
Every one of these portals also confirms something worth dwelling on: your plate is being logged, time-stamped, and run against databases every time you drive past one of these cameras, whether or not you're suspected of anything. If you want to see how far this network has spread in your own town, check our camera map, and if you want to push back on it locally, our take-action page has the tools to start.
