Notice the channel here: this isn't an independent news outlet, it's Flock Safety's own account repackaging a local FOX 4 story into a highlight reel. That matters. Every one of these 'we caught the bad guy' videos comes straight from the company selling the cameras to your city council, which means we're getting a sales pitch dressed up as journalism. A violent crime got solved — good — but a single anecdote isn't evidence that blanketing a town in ALPRs is the right tradeoff, and Flock has every incentive to only ever show you the wins.
What these clips never mention is the flip side: how many plates got logged, how long that data sits in a database, who else can query it, and what happens to the overwhelming majority of drivers who had nothing to do with any crime but got tracked anyway. One dramatic arrest doesn't answer any of that, and it shouldn't be the basis for expanding a surveillance network with almost no public accountability.
