Real-Time Policing in Action with Flock Safety | Trailer
The short version: Flock's own trailer sells 'real-time policing' urgency to justify blanket ALPR surveillance, but the pitch is marketing, not evidence of oversight or results.
Our Take
This is a trailer, straight from Flock Safety's own channel, which means it's built to sell a product, not to inform the public. The "every second counts" framing is a familiar pitch: manufacture urgency, skip the part about how many plates get scanned, stored, and cross-referenced for every genuine emergency it claims to solve. When the company producing the surveillance network is also the one narrating its necessity, skepticism is the only sane response.
What's missing from slick promos like this is any accounting of the millions of innocent drivers swept into these databases daily, the lack of independent audits on misuse, or the patchwork of local policies that supposedly govern who can query the data and why. "Real-time policing" sounds urgent and clean in a trailer; in practice it means a private company's cameras logging your movements whether or not you're suspected of anything.
If you want to see how far this network already reaches in your area, check our camera map, and if you'd rather not just watch the marketing roll by, our take-action page has concrete steps for pushing back at the local level.
