Get the Flock Out of Here - Let's Talk News

Let's Talk News · 4 weeks ago

The short version: Let's Talk News puts Flock Safety's ALPR network under a live studio microscope, and the fact that mainstream panel shows are asking these questions at all is the real story.

Our Take

Leticia Remauro and the Let's Talk News crew are tackling Flock Safety tonight, and credit where it's due: getting a live-audience panel show to spend an hour on automated license plate readers is a win for visibility, full stop. Most Americans still have no idea that a camera on their street corner is logging their plate, timestamp, and location every time they drive to work, church, or a protest, then feeding it into a searchable database that cops anywhere in the country can query.

That's the part we keep hammering on at DeFlock The USA — this isn't a story about one controversial company so much as it's a story about infrastructure. Once thousands of these cameras are wired together into a national network, the capability to track any car, anywhere, doesn't go away just because the news cycle moves on. It sits there, waiting to be subpoenaed, hacked, or quietly repurposed for whatever the next political priority happens to be, immigration sweeps, abortion investigations, protest monitoring, you name it.

If tonight's broadcast gets even a handful of new viewers asking "wait, is there one of these near me?" — good. Go find out for yourself on our camera map, and if you want to do more than watch from the couch, our take-action page has the tools to push back in your own town.
