3 mile island, flock cameras, and AI
The short version: Chuck and Mash link the AI data-center energy rush to Flock's camera sprawl, and the pairing is worth taking seriously.
Our Take
Chuck and Mash's riff tying Three Mile Island's nuclear revival to AI and Flock cameras lands on something real: the same tech boom pushing data centers and AI models is the one bankrolling automated surveillance. Flock Safety doesn't run on vibes — it runs on cloud compute, machine learning models, and ever-expanding server farms, all powered by the same grid that's suddenly got Silicon Valley interested in restarting old reactors.
That convergence matters because it's easy to treat "AI" and "surveillance infrastructure" as separate news beats when they're really the same story. The more compute gets cheap and plentiful, the easier it becomes to run plate-reading, face-matching, and pattern-of-life analysis at scale across entire counties — quietly, with little public debate about whether anyone consented to it. A podcast riffing on nuclear energy and Skynet jokes is also, whether intentionally or not, pointing at the actual pipeline that makes mass license-plate tracking cheap enough to blanket a town.
We give Chuck and Mash credit for connecting dots a lot of coverage leaves separate. If this clicked something for you, check our camera map to see what's already running near you, and head to take-action if you want to push back before the next data center comes online to power the next camera network.
