The Pissed Off Patriot (Adam Bomb USA) is channeling something real here, even if the delivery is pure internet rage-bait. Stitching together local newscasts about Flock Safety cameras popping up in neighborhoods with zero public debate, the video taps into a frustration a lot of Americans feel but can't quite name: a private company is building a nationwide vehicle-tracking network, one city council rubber-stamp at a time, and most residents only find out when a news crew shows up.
Credit where it's due to Tyler Oliveira and the original news clips for surfacing the receipts. But let's be clear about the difference between the two things people now call "deflocking." Mapping and documenting these cameras is legal, useful, and exactly what open, crowdsourced projects should be doing. Taking a bat to a pole-mounted camera is a felony charge waiting to happen, and it does nothing to slow the company down since the unit gets swapped out on the county's dime. Venting on YouTube feels good; it doesn't move policy.
