Introducing Flock Safety NightVision™ | Clear LPR Evidence After Dark

Flock · 2 years ago

The short version: Flock's own marketing confirms its cameras now capture clear images around the clock, extending ALPR surveillance into the night with zero public debate.

Our Take

This clip comes straight from Flock Safety's own channel, so take the glossy production for what it is: a sales pitch. But buried in the marketing speak is a notable admission — Flock is upgrading its Falcon cameras so they can capture detailed images of your car, your bumper stickers, and your movements at 3 a.m. just as easily as at 3 p.m. The pitch is "crime doesn't stop," but neither does the surveillance net, and nobody asked residents whether they wanted cameras that work just as well in the dark.

What's striking is how casually "VehicleFingerprint" gets dropped here, as if tracking the specific scratches, stickers, and features of your vehicle around the clock is just a routine product update. It's not. Night vision means there's no longer a daily window where ALPR coverage is weaker — these systems are now built for uninterrupted, 24/7 documentation of who's driving where. That's a meaningful expansion of capability, announced with zero public hearing, zero city council vote, and zero input from the people being recorded.

Every new feature Flock rolls out — night vision, AI pattern matching, expanded data sharing — makes it more important for communities to know where these cameras already are and to push back before the next upgrade becomes the new normal.
