Counterweight Project's latest video nails something we harp on constantly: surveillance in America is not evenly distributed. It flows downhill. The delivery driver, the warehouse worker, the data entry clerk — their every movement and keystroke gets logged, analyzed, and used against them. Meanwhile the people writing the laws that make this normal face none of that scrutiny themselves. That asymmetry isn't an accident. It's the whole business model.
Flock Safety's ALPR network is the neighborhood-level version of this same story. Cities get sold on 'community safety,' but what actually happens is that every plate on every street gets time-stamped, geo-tagged, and stored in a database that cops, HOAs, and sometimes total strangers can query.
