Flock Cameras Have To Go. Period
The short version: A YouTuber argues Flock cameras can't be reformed, only removed — we agree abolition, not regulation, is the only honest endgame.
Our Take
David Won't Shut Up! says what a lot of people are starting to feel in their gut: you can't "reform" a surveillance dragnet, you have to rip it out. We're sympathetic to that framing. Every city council "policy" on data retention or audit logs is just a promise from the same vendor that keeps getting caught sharing plate data across state lines and with agencies it swore it wouldn't. Policy is a leash Flock holds the other end of.
The harder question the video raises — how do you actually make it happen — is the one that matters. It's not a tweet, it's showing up to the council meeting before the contract renews, it's knowing which intersections in your own town already have cameras bolted to the poles, and it's organizing neighbors instead of assuming someone else is handling it. That's the whole reason we built the map: you can't fight what you can't see.
Credit to David for keeping the pressure on and refusing to let "regulate it" become the comfortable consensus. If this resonates, don't just nod along — check our take-action page and turn that "has to go" energy into an actual agenda item.
