What gets left out is that these cameras aren't just watching people breaking laws, they're logging every plate that passes, law-abiding or not, and building a searchable travel history on millions of ordinary drivers with no warrant involved.
That's the part that should give anyone pause. A network marketed as catching the bad guys is, by design, a dragnet that captures everyone. Once that data exists, it's subject to abuse, breach, and mission creep, by local cops, by federal agencies, by whoever gets a login.
