Stop Mass Surveillance: Protect Your Privacy Now! #shorts

Loyal Moses · 2 months ago

The short version: A short from creator Loyal Moses asks whether you're 'a crop or a flock,' framing ALPR surveillance as a bipartisan threat that outlasts whichever administration built it.

Our Take

Credit to Loyal Moses for packing a real question into a 60-second short: the system being built to watch you doesn't care who's in office next. Flock Safety cameras and the databases they feed aren't partisan tools — they're infrastructure. Whatever protections one administration promises, the next one inherits full access to the same logs, the same search history, the same movements.

That's the core problem with ALPR networks that get sold to city councils as 'just for solving crimes.' Once the plate-by-plate record of where you drove exists, it's available for subpoenas chasing abortion-related travel, immigration status, protest attendance, or whatever the political mood of the moment demands. The cameras don't ask why you're on that road. They just log it, forever, for whoever asks next.

If you want to know whether this is already happening in your neighborhood, check our camera map — and if you find one, our take-action page walks you through what to do about it.
