According to flocks CEO we need to compromise our privacy for safety #flock #surveilance #prepper
The short version: A creator flags Flock's CEO framing mass ALPR surveillance as a necessary privacy-for-safety trade-off, and we're not buying the pitch.
Our Take
Credit to Jakeconspires for pulling this clip and putting it in front of more eyes, because that line — that we all need to "compromise our privacy for safety" — is the exact sales pitch surveillance companies have used for decades to normalize tech that used to require a warrant. It's never framed as a choice you get to make. It's framed as a toll you already owe.
The problem is that "compromise" implies a negotiation, and nobody driving past a Flock camera negotiated anything. There's no opt-out, no sunset clause, and no real evidence requirement that the safety gains match the scale of data being vacuumed up on totally innocent drivers. When a CEO says the public needs to give up privacy, what he really means is that his company needs a market, and law enforcement departments get a data stream they didn't have to build or justify to voters.
This is exactly why documenting where these cameras actually live matters — it turns an abstract corporate talking point into a concrete, mappable reality in your own town. Check our camera map to see what's already watching your routes, and hit take action if you want to push back at the local level instead of just accepting the trade.
