Argos Atlas nails the core problem: your license plate is the one ID you're legally forced to broadcast to the world, and for decades that was fine because reading it required a human being with eyes and legs. Flock Safety removed the human. What used to be a limited, effortful act of surveillance became a passive, automated dragnet that logs your movements whether you've done anything wrong or not — and it happened without a single ballot cast, a single statewide debate, or in most towns, even a public vote by the city council that approved it.

The video's framing of "no map of the network" is exactly why we built one. Flock and its imitators have installed thousands of ALPR cameras on street corners, HOA entrances, and school zones across the country, and most residents have no idea their daily commute is being cataloged and stored in a searchable database that police departments — and sometimes federal agencies — can query. That opacity isn't an accident; it's the business model.
