Flock Safety is named the #1 fastest-growing company Georgia
The short version: Flock Safety's own promo video celebrates explosive growth as the #1 fastest-growing company in Georgia, which we read as a warning sign for surveillance expansion, not a feel-good business story.
Our Take
This clip comes straight from Flock Safety's corporate channel, touting its ranking on the Atlanta ACG's 2023 Georgia Fast 40 list. It's a polished piece of self-promotion, and we'll credit Flock for producing it, but let's be clear about what "fastest-growing" actually means here: more ALPR cameras installed in more towns, more license plate data flowing into a private company's servers, and more local police departments locked into subscription contracts with a surveillance vendor.
Venture-backed hypergrowth is great for investors and sales teams. It's a different story for the residents whose daily movements are getting logged without a public vote, a warrant requirement, or in many cases even a city council hearing. When a company brags about being the fastest-growing in the state, that's a direct measure of how quickly automated surveillance infrastructure is spreading into American neighborhoods, often faster than the policy debate about it can keep up.
We'd rather see that growth rate as a prompt for scrutiny than applause. Check our camera map to see how much of this expansion has already landed near you, and visit our take-action page if you want to push back at the local level.
