LEAKED FLOCK WEBINAR SHOWS COMPANY TEACHING COPS HOW TO SURVEIL “NO KINGS” PROTESTERS

Devin · 4 weeks ago

The short version: A leaked webinar reportedly shows Flock walking police through using its ALPR network to track “No Kings” protesters, raising fresh fears about surveillance of political dissent.

Our Take

Creator Devin says they've gotten hold of a leaked Flock Safety webinar in which the company appears to coach law enforcement on using its license plate reader network to monitor attendees of "No Kings" protests. We haven't independently verified the leak, but the claim itself lands right where critics have warned this technology was always headed: from "finding stolen cars" to tracking who shows up to a political demonstration.

This is the core problem with a nationwide, always-on camera network that logs every passing plate regardless of suspicion. Once that data exists, the temptation to query it for protest attendance, political rallies, or any other constitutionally protected activity is baked in — no judge, no warrant, often no real oversight stopping an agency from asking "who was near this intersection on this date." If a vendor is actively training departments on how to pull that thread, it's not a hypothetical slippery slope anymore, it's a sales pitch.

Credit to Devin for surfacing this and putting it in front of people — this is exactly the kind of scrutiny Flock's expansion deserves. Check our camera map to see what's watching your own neighborhood, and head to take-action if you want to push back on your local department's use of this network.
