Credit to Viral_Clips for putting a spotlight on something we've been saying for a while: the plate is just the easiest hook, not the only one. Flock Safety's own marketing brags about "Vehicle Fingerprint" technology that logs color, make, body type, roof racks, bumper stickers, even a cracked windshield. So swapping plates, driving a rental, or covering up your tag doesn't make you invisible — the network is built to track the car itself, stitching together a movement history whether or not the plate ever gets a clean read.
This matters because it exposes the myth that ALPR systems are narrowly about stolen cars and AMBER Alerts. When a camera can pick your vehicle out of traffic by a dent and a parking sticker, you're not looking at a license-plate reader anymore — you're looking at a general-purpose tracking grid that happens to also read plates. That's a much bigger civil liberties problem, and it's exactly why we map where these cameras live.
