I spoke about #flock at my #townhall and here's what I found #fyp #politics

SoraBlu3 · 4 weeks ago

The short version: A resident took Flock concerns straight to a town hall, and SoraBlu3's clip is a reminder that local meetings are where ALPR fights actually get won or lost.

Our Take

Credit to SoraBlu3 for doing the unglamorous work: showing up to a town hall and putting Flock Safety on the public record. We don't know exactly what was said or how officials responded, since the video speaks for itself, but the format matters. ALPR contracts, data-sharing agreements, and camera placements are almost always approved in rooms like this one, usually with little public scrutiny, and once the vote happens the cameras tend to stay up indefinitely.

This is the pattern we see again and again across the country: a council or commission quietly signs off on a Flock deal, and residents only find out once the poles are already in the ground. Raising it at a town hall, on camera, forces the question into the open and puts elected officials on record. That's how local accountability actually starts, long before any state legislature or court gets involved.

If you want to know whether your own neighborhood already has these systems watching your plate, check our camera map, and if you're thinking about raising this at your own town hall, our take-action page has tools to help you prepare.
