Flock Safety Falcon® | LPR Camera

Flock · 3 years ago

The short version: Flock's own promo reel sells the Falcon as convenient crime-fighting tech while glossing over the mass surveillance network it actually builds.

Our Take

This is straight from Flock Safety's own marketing department, so take the pitch for what it is: a sales reel. "Vehicle Fingerprint," "real-time alerts," "searchable evidence" — the language is designed to make a permanent, networked camera grid sound like just another handy police tool, not the backbone of a nationwide tracking system that logs where you drive whether or not you're ever suspected of anything.

Notice what's absent from the pitch: any mention of retention limits, audit trails, public oversight, or what happens when this data gets breached, misused by an employee, or shared with agencies outside the community that paid for it. Flock doesn't have to answer those questions in a promo video — but your city council does, every time they sign a renewal contract for one of these subscription-based camera suites.

Before your town adds more Falcons to the roadside, check our map to see how many are already watching, and use our take-action resources to push back at the next public meeting.
