Our Take
EFF is one of the sharpest civil liberties shops in the country, and when they put out a video titled "Everybody Hates Flock. Now What?" it's worth paying attention. The premise tracks with what we've been seeing on the ground for months: this isn't a red-team-versus-blue-team issue. Rural conservatives worried about federal overreach and urban progressives worried about policing and immigration enforcement are landing in the same place — Flock's network of always-on plate readers has grown faster than any real oversight, and communities are starting to notice.
That "now what" question in the title is the one that matters most. Awareness and outrage are step one, but Flock doesn't get dismantled by viral frustration alone. It gets rolled back when city councils hear from constituents at public meetings, when local reporters file records requests, and when residents actually know how many cameras are watching their daily commute. Credit to EFF for pushing the conversation past "this is creepy" and toward organizing.
