DESTROY the Flock license plate cameras!
The short version: A viral rant titled 'DESTROY the Flock cameras' captures real public anger at ALPR surveillance, but smashing hardware isn't the fix — organizing is.
Our Take
LoudMouthTim's video channels a frustration we hear constantly: people are sick of driving past yet another Flock Safety camera bolted to a pole, quietly logging their plate, location, and time of travel with zero debate from the community it's watching. The China comparison in the description is blunt, but it's not wrong to worry about where this road leads when a private company is building a searchable, networked database of everyone's movements and selling access to police departments with minimal oversight.
That said, we don't endorse vigilante destruction of cameras. It's illegal, it gets individual people prosecuted while Flock just reinstalls the hardware and bills the local government again, and it lets agencies paint privacy advocates as criminals instead of citizens with legitimate constitutional concerns. The actual leverage point is public pressure: records requests, city council meetings, procurement votes, and local elections. That's slower and less cathartic than a video title promising destruction, but it's what actually gets contracts canceled.
If this video got your blood up, channel it. Check our camera map to see what's already deployed near you, and use our take-action page for templates and strategies that put the burden back on the officials who signed these contracts — not on you standing alone with a crowbar at 2 a.m.
