Why Is Flock Safety Ideal For Neighborhoods?

Flock · 5 years ago

The short version: Flock Safety's own marketing video pitches neighborhood ALPR cameras as a safety no-brainer, but it skips the surveillance tradeoffs homeowners rarely get told about.

Our Take

This one comes straight from the source: Flock Safety's own channel, making the case for why its cameras belong at your subdivision's entrance. That's worth noting up front — this isn't independent reporting, it's a sales pitch, and like most sales pitches it leads with reassurance and skips the fine print.

The pitch to neighborhoods usually follows a familiar script: a few HOA board members get a demo, hear about a package-theft spike or a string of car break-ins, and sign a contract before residents fully grasp that every vehicle entering or leaving the neighborhood is now logged, timestamped, and stored — often shared well beyond the subdivision with other agencies and jurisdictions. Convenience and 'ideal for neighborhoods' framing tends to obscure who else gets access to that data and for how long.

Before your HOA signs anything, find out if Flock is already watching your block on our camera map, and check take-action for ways to push back on data-sharing agreements and demand transparency at the next board meeting.
