On June 26, 2019, California's Joint Legislative Audit Committee voted to order the State Auditor to investigate the use of automated license plate readers by police and sheriff's departments. EFF Senior Investigative Researcher Dave Maass testified, who helped develop the audit request, testified at the hearing.
