Whatever you think of taking a wrench to a Flock camera, the underlying frustration is legitimate. These devices went up in thousands of towns with little public debate, and now they're logging every plate that passes, building a movement history on millions of Americans who've never been charged with anything.
The video also surfaces the two claims that matter most right now: police say the cameras solve crimes, and the ACLU says Flock is quietly stitching together a nationwide tracking network. Both can be true at once, and that's exactly the problem — a tool sold as local crime-fighting infrastructure with no meaningful limits on who else gets to query it, including, as critics allege, ICE hunting for migrants. Vigilante camera removal grabs headlines, but it doesn't force transparency, retention limits, or audit trails. Organized public pressure does.
