New ALPR Tech: Cheaper, Better, Faster Police Enforcement #shorts
The short version: A police-focused channel pitches ALPR-drone-camera integration as a cost-cutting crime-fighting upgrade, glossing over the privacy toll of networked mass surveillance.
Our Take
"Your LEO Nation" is pitching ALPRs, fixed cameras, and drones as a package deal — a one-stop shop for "cheaper, better, faster" policing. That's the marketing pitch Flock Safety and its competitors have been selling to city councils for years, and it's worth noticing when it comes straight from a channel built for a law enforcement audience: this isn't neutral reporting, it's a sales pitch dressed up as news.
The problem is that "cheaper and faster" for police almost always means "bigger and more invasive" for everyone else. Stacking drones on top of ALPR networks doesn't just speed up solving the crimes that already happened — it builds a live, cross-referenced tracking grid that logs where every driver goes, whether or not they've ever been suspected of anything. Efficiency framing conveniently skips the part where that data gets stored, shared, and sometimes abused, with little public oversight of who can query it and why.
If your town is weighing one of these ALPR-drone bundles, don't wait for a council vote to find out your commute is already in a database. Check our camera map to see what's already watching your streets, and use our take-action resources to push for real transparency before the next "upgrade" gets rubber-stamped.
