Flock Cameras Terrorists your government

Digital ID, Mass Surveillance and Digital Currency · 1 month ago

The short version: A mass-surveillance watchdog channel frames Flock's ALPR network as a tool that can point at citizens as easily as it points at crime, and that framing deserves scrutiny.

Our Take

The channel behind this video, Digital ID, Mass Surveillance and Digital Currency, has built a niche digging into the infrastructure of control most people never think about — and this time the lens is on Flock Safety. We can't verify every claim made in a 400-video catalog, but the core provocation is worth sitting with: a camera network sold as a tool against bad actors can just as easily be aimed at ordinary people, protestors, or anyone a future administration decides to call a threat. That's not paranoia, it's just how dragnet infrastructure works once it's built.

This is exactly the blind spot we try to shine a light on at DeFlock The USA. Flock's pitch is always framed around the worst-case criminal, but the actual deployment is indiscriminate — every plate, every driver, every trip logged regardless of guilt. Whether or not you buy every argument in this video, the underlying question is legitimate: who decides what counts as a threat, and what stops that definition from expanding?

We'd rather you look at the hardware yourself than take anyone's word for it, including ours. Check our camera map to see what's already watching your routes, and if you want to push back locally, our take-action page has steps for getting answers from your city council.
