Novara Media sent Darth Vader to testify for Flock Safety at a San Diego city council meeting, and the bit lands because it barely has to exaggerate. A Sith Lord cheering on a network of always-on plate cameras to track "rebel scum" from playground to pool is basically just a punchier version of the marketing copy Flock already sends to city councils nationwide. Credit to Novara for finding the joke hiding in plain sight: this technology was built to normalize universal tracking, and it's usually pitched by people a lot less honest about it than a guy in a cape.
The gag also lands because the real-world abuse cases aren't hypothetical. The video points to a Louisiana deputy who used Flock's network to stalk his ex-fiancée, which is exactly the kind of misuse critics have been warning about since these cameras started multiplying at intersections. Once a database can answer "where has this car been and when," it doesn't matter whether the person asking is a Galactic Emperor, a jealous cop, or an ICE contractor. The infrastructure for abuse is the infrastructure, full stop.
