The short version: FartGuys launches a satirical series skewering Flock Safety's ALPR network, using comedy to spotlight a surveillance system most Americans don't know is watching them.

Our Take

Credit where it's due: the creators over at FartGuys are doing something a lot of advocacy groups struggle with — making ALPR surveillance digestible. "Meet the Flockers" is billed as a comedy series, and based on the premiere, it looks like they're using humor to smuggle in a serious message about a camera network most drivers have never consciously noticed, let alone consented to.

That's actually the core problem Flock Safety has built its business model around. These cameras blend into the landscape — zip-tied to poles, disguised as traffic infrastructure, humming along quietly in thousands of towns — while logging every passing plate into a searchable, shareable database. Comedy is one of the few tools that can cut through the numbness people feel toward "just another camera." If FartGuys can get viewers laughing and then thinking "wait, there's actually a non-ironic reason this is unconstitutional," that's a win for public awareness, regardless of how niche the channel is.

We'd just add the practical follow-through: satire is a great hook, but action is what actually rolls back a surveillance network. If this episode got you curious about what's mounted near your own house, check our camera map to see what's already been documented in your area, and visit our take-action page if you want to push back on a system that was deployed with zero public debate in most communities.
