Flock & ALPR Cameras in Cortland, Illinois
Volunteers have reported 5 automated license plate readers in and around Cortland — cameras that log every passing plate with a time and location.
On the record · Contract Canceled
Cortland is on the record here. Town of Cortland Mayor Mark Pietrowski directed police on August 21, 2026 to cancel the town’s Flock contract for five license-plate reader cameras. The Daily Chronicle reported a work order for Flock to remove the cameras and poles, citing resident privacy concerns and third-party data use the town does not control. Officials also approved a new Axon body-worn and in-car camera contract. The mayor said stationary pole LPRs end and that vehicle LPR ability would stay under Cortland PD control without third-party Flock involvement.
