Public Comments: Steve Wageman spoke to the board concerning the Flock Cameras, as this has been
subject to na onal news stories recently. Flock cameras capture license plate informa on of all vehicles
that pass within camera range, then store informa on in a cloud-based data file. The captured data can
aid law enforcement in recovery of missing persons and in solving crimes. He is not informed of any
details nor the level of benefit that flock cameras have provided our local law enforcement. Flock
Cameras are owned by Flock Safety, Atlanta George. Public concern is growing regarding privacy and
reports of misuse. The unintended consequences of the camera are public distrust and added liability to
the county and ci zens in the event of misuse. Flock Camera are a fee based, so there is a cost burden
for the taxpayers. As a taxpayer, his request is that contracts with Flock Safety be discon nued.
Sheriff Russ Briggs spoke regarding the Flock cameras. The cameras through an interlocal contract with
Pender. First it came to Pender Village Board about Flock Safety Cameras, and that board is the ones that
said that they wanted to do this and to get some cameras up in Pender, so we can be apart of Flock
Safety. So, this would be a contract with the Village. Of the cameras, only one is set up. There is an audit
method that he can review everything. What informa on inpu ed and by whom. Flock is adding stuff to
make it more trustworthy. There is a seven-day reten on period unless you put something into evidence
mode and save it. He spoke of some of the success with Flock Cameras. He also explained it is a tool to
