New Hanover County commissioners voted 4-0 on September 8, 2026 to cancel the sheriff’s Flock ALPR contract. Port City Daily reported a $219,000 deal for 36 cameras set to expire in spring 2027, of which 20 are ALPRs. The sheriff’s office said it disabled national data sharing and notified Flock. Flock is to remove ALPR hardware. Eight Condor PTZ cameras were not in the cancel motion. State I-40 Flock cameras remain.
