Asheville City Council voted 5–2 on August 25, 2026 to authorize the city manager to terminate the city’s Flock contract, suspend access, searching, and sharing of Flock data, and remove the 11 city-operated automated license-plate readers. WLOS and Carolina Public Press covered the vote. HOA, school, and other Buncombe County Flock cameras outside the city contract remain. Axon plate readers remain under discussion as a possible replacement.
