Several members of the public addressed Council regarding the proposed rezoning
of 2547 and 2555 Edgewood Drive.

4. Reports
a. Mayor
Mayor Berns reported on the City’s successful Senior Trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake and
offered congratulations to Beachwood’s newly recognized 50-year residents, who were
celebrated at last week’s senior luncheon. He also provided an overview of the First
CALL Legislation appearing on tonight’s agenda for Council’s consideration.
b. Council Members (non-agenda items)
Mr. Smith offered comments regarding community safety technology.
Ms. Stern provided remarks on the Stor-It-Safe initiative.
c. Department Directors
Mr. Schroeder reported on the close of the pool season and thanked all patrons and staff
for their support throughout the summer. He highlighted the upcoming Dog Paddle event,
which will be held prior to the pool being fully emptied for the season, and also provided
an update on preparations for Fall Fest.
Assistant Fire Chief Domonkos provided an update on a recent Fire/Rescue call and
recognized the firefighters involved for their exemplary work and professionalism.

1. Discussion regarding First Call Program
Chairman Smith introduced Item 1 and then turned the discussion over to Police Chief Grispino.
Chief Grispino provided an overview of the First CALL program, including its logistics, funding
structure, participation model, and the ongoing success of the program in the communities
currently utilizing it. The Committee and Council was afforded the opportunity to offer
comments and ask questions.

Community Safety Technology Update
Chairman Smith introduced Item 2 and again turned the floor over to Police Chief Grispino.
Chief Grispino provided opening comments and introduced guest attendee Trevor Chandler, who
joined the meeting via Microsoft Teams. Mr. Chandler participated as a representative of Flock
Safety.
Chairman Smith then opened the discussion to the Committee regarding community safety
technology, specifically the use of Flock camera systems. Both Committee members and Council
were given the opportunity to comment and ask questions. Following discussion, Mayor Berns
provided closing remarks. This item will continue to be discussed at upcoming meetings.
